The “pickle” brawl to settle it all. Two local leaders competing in a game of Pickleball to recognize November’s National Diabetes Awareness Month. And in the end, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs and Knox County Commission Chairwoman Courtney Durrett had quite the pickle on their hands.
Durrett’s supposed win was vacated by a net regulation issue, thus the judges deemed the contest a draw. The two will battle again next November.
The annual competition emphasizes the importance of healthy habits and physical activity in living with the diabetes. Durrett’s 9-year-old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a few years ago while Mayor Jacobs noted his own father has diabetes.
