  10. Angus Noble

3:53 Hearts beat Celtic the other week with 24% possession. Possession doesn't matter if you can't convert the chances.

  11. Bernhard Immanuel

I have applied all of this, but still at 2,000,000++ position in FPL :'(

  12. Zach Hostory

On a related note, am I the only one who hates winning percentage? Let's take two hypothetical teams. Team A had a record of 19-0-19 (50%). Team B went 10-28-0 (26%). Winning percentage would suggest that Team A and their manager were twice as good as Team B and their manager. However Team B actually has one more point than Team A. Not to mention they went undefeated. Not a single loss. Team A lost half of their games. Instead of the childishly simplistic games won/games played formula, it should be points earned/points available.

not kepa with 55% save percentage😭😂

  15. TZOBI MEDIA

    This channel deserves more followers.

Post shot-xG is also pretty useless for a goalkeepers ability to keep the ball out of the goal, some goalkeepers are very bad at positioning, which is a big part of shot stopping among other things, and so if a goalkeeper is positioned badly so then has to make a good save to stop the goal, they are not actually better than a goalkeeper who doesn't let the shot occur in the first place.

ehh, the with/without stat issue has aged pretty poorly this year re: virgil and gomez for liverpool. smack me down if im out of line, but with a healthy center of defense – fabinho and thiago in particular, and then cascading throughout everyone else at the club – liverpool would be wayyyy stronger at this point of the season. all credit to milner for being such a talisman.
oh, and other teams are cool too. except united and city. fuck valencia too lol

  18. nate froggy

    sick video. chart party vibes

  19. Steven Cooke

I think there is a British bias towards those that have pace and run around the field constantly. Don't get me wrong: pace is an incredible asset. It makes Mbappe so much fun to watch for instance, but it is only one component.

  20. Arturo Mansour-Hull

    Tackles =quality

  21. Jerichocassini

Excellent video. Doubt I'm alone in feeling a slight cringe at the somewhat ironic grammatical mistake in the title.

  22. Tor-Erik Måseide

The defensive part is totally the reason why people saw Henderson as a shit player at Liverpool before they won the league. They just saw the stats and that he "didn't contribute" in any way, but the thing is; he did most of his work "behind the scenes". Like blocking players, commanding the team, apply pressure to the other team etc.

  23. Michael J Del Toro

You are basically describing raw data to information to context.

Every layer adds subjectivity and therefore less applicable outside a given set of circumstances.

Football is not a sport designed for stats.

Just take a look at playing out of the back. Lmao!

  24. Stanley James Adie

All stats are open to interpretation but football fans or indeed all sports fans love stats

  25. Matej Glejtek

    Martin Dubravka is the best

  26. Yup Yup

I love that kepa is last on goals prevented…

  27. The Great Hadoken

This is good stuff, it shows why the vast majority of stats (such as pass % currently in the game Football Manager are next to useless. I'm a big advocate of making FM more realistic by getting in all the same sorts of stats real managers would take into account, and doing away with the attributes system, for example Pace – 18, Acceleration – 18, and replacing them with a combination of using useful stats, and also, in the case of measuring pace, perhaps using things such as 40 yard dash times to judge acceleration, 100m dash times to judge pace, things which would only become fully apparent once you have had the lad in training for a while, and so on.

  28. Ldoggmillionaire

number 10 is largely a debatable point because once youve allowed for injuries the players getting more minutes are likely doing so because theyve performed better so deserve more credit. And Per 90 stats tends to favour players who have played less. If you hit a good patch of form and then come out of the side youll have excellent stats without having a sustained impact while someone who has been consistent all season will have worse per 90 stats potentially but will have been the difference maker in a number of key moments
