The real reasons Alpine didn't want to sign Daniel Ricciardo for F1 2023

As Daniel Ricciardo accepts the reality that he will not be racing in Formula 1 next season, we finally understand why the best option he seemed to have for 2023…never became an option.
Ricciardo has probably known for a while he will not be racing in F1 next season and has now admitted it publicly in the wake of Alpine signing Pierre Gasly.
A possible reunion with the Renault works team seemed like Ricciardo’s only serious opportunity once it became clear he would leave McLaren at the end of the year.
But that wasn’t the case, and we’ll explain why. Now, what Ricciardo is looking at as only a sabbatical next season carries a serious risk of becoming the end of his grand prix career.

The real reason…..well not the real reason but the reasons we have decided to make up in order to generate some click bait

  2. Shameera Swartz

Danny Ric doesn't deserve to at a back of the grid team. I would like to see him a other racing series. I think he'd do well.

  3. Susan Scarlet

Why is drugovich not linked to any f1 team ?

  4. Ersyach Irham

    He should signs for MotoGP

  5. Jeffry Kopis

What Daniel should do in 2023 is get his damn nose fixed.

  6. Craig Moy

I am massive DR fan but his timing was just wrong, stuck behind a decade of Mercedes dominance then under the glare of Helmut's new favourite after 1/2 a season of DNF's mainly motor related. At the end of the day, he won plenty of GP's he could be the fastest on the grid in his day in the right car, he should never have left RB, An inferior driver in Perez proves even if he was willing to be bridesmaid he would still be in a top team and have 15+ GP wins by now. He took the cash and a Renault story, a second team he should not have left as it was shaped around him. He went to McLaren because he felt shunned by Ferrari and thought Mercedes power was all that was needed (having had years of uder powered Renault), 2 years later he is done….. He can call it a sabbatical if the reason he does not want to be in an average car, well it is unlikely he is coming back from sabbatical to a top team. Would like to see him like Webber go on to lead a WEC Factory effort.

  7. Mark Smith

    Riccardo is returning to REDBULL!!

  8. Martin Wood-Wilkinson

He should probably do a Celebrity Big Brother or Love Island show.

  9. bizarroeddie1

    Ricciardo has been terrible.
Alpine would be taking a considerable risk taking him even if he was likely to be back to form.

  10. Willy Hwang

he is very high on himself.
makes it difficult for others to help him.

  11. OSCAR ZHENG

i kinda want to see ricciardo in red bull again althought there is a little chance of that if perez proves competent next season

  12. Jerik Andrei

The problem with ricciardo is that he believes that he’s a world champion driver and wants a seat where he could be competitive. He’s not a world champions driver. If he stayed at Red Bull he’d be like bottas at Mercedes.

  13. Clive Engel

    Ricardo is to slow

  14. Maurice motors

WEC,IMSA,Indy would be a good fit for him

  15. IzzyYouTubing

I don't think you guys know what 'extremely successful' means if that's what you classify Riccardo's time at Renault…

  16. Owen Whatley

Ricciardo should pull his head out of his ass and take the Haas or Williams seat. As fans we want to see the best drivers on the grid even if they are in a lesser team. Why Antonio and Hulkenberg who are proven non performers are being considered for a seat I believe is insane and not a good look for the sport. If Ricciardo won’t take either seat he should lose his super license.

  17. SimoH

This video is not correct in its assumption, Alpine had discussions with Riccardo but ultimately it chose to go with a younger driver in Gasly. I feel Alpine have made an error in doing so as Gasly struggled in a top line car in the past, only time will tell.

  18. Billinthebluesky

So sick of Riccardo. Go away already.

  19. mmanzanozr1

I like Danni but his lack of loyalty is biting him in the ass, that and he's been ass in a decent car for 2 years.

  20. CodyXReviews

I would like to see Ricardo in the unemployment line nest season because he is an overrated bum

  21. Derik Murphy

This is complete crap that Custer and SHR are being fined and penalized. Elliot blatantly did this to Harvick at Bristol last year but not even a discussion about reprimand. Complete crap and this is why nascar is dying and fans are leaving in hoards. Cry baby Elliot gets his way along with RCR being the biggest cheat and crier in nascar. Complete JOKE!

  22. JordonMMG

Parker – why not do this for the spending caps. Anything you spend over your cap, you have to match in a financial penalty to the league, and the league should do a drawing of the lesser funded teams to see who gets the money?

  23. sparky McPlug

Nascar, the clown show of motor racing.

  24. michael caraway

NASCAR has been trying to stop race manipulation for years. Remember at one time drivers could communicate with other drivers even ones not on their team at the superspeedways.

  25. paul b

Matt Shepard won Oswego and Ryan Preece and Eric goodale won at Thompson

  26. Paul Humphrey

Parker! You're wearing my shirt. I got mine in the mail Tuesday.

  27. UNHchabo

Good episode, except I didn't like the shaky-cam effect on the still images. It was disorienting, if you want some motion for those I'd much prefer the Ken Burns style pan and zoom.

  28. ZeKe

i would agree with you about the 41's data if it weren't the last lap. under normal circumstances, no racing driver giving 100% effort willingly gives up positions, points and money on the last lap of any race.

  29. Joe D

Nascar makes no sense … what about JGR and Jones being told "DONT pass him" and didnt pass him and no one passed Jones.

  30. Mitchell Deloach

I'm just now hearing about the W series 😅

  31. psinclairjr

Wait wait wait….. they heard Mike Shiplett tell Cole Custer he had a flat but didn't see William Byron knock the religion out of Denny Hamlin

  32. Michael Jenkins

    Nice shirt Parker!

  33. Mike Spivey

To me, the fact that Cole impeded Dillon is a deal breaker. Probably wouldn't have made a difference though.

  34. C B

    Didn’t see the tire smoke?

  35. Aaron Talks Culture

    Two watches????? 🤔🤣

  36. Pat McAssey

I think W series is more of a PR stunt than a genuine attempt at getting more women involved at the highest level of single seaters. Motorsport is the one sport where men and woman can compete on equal footing, so the powers that be should showcase that. I think money would be better spent adding more teams to F2 that could give drivers like Jamie Chadwick a chance to show how they stack up against the guys who are being touted as next in line for F1.
