Sam Bowie is a name that most of you have heard of. He was selected with the #2 pick in the 1984 NBA draft, sandwiched between Jordan and Olajuwon. In this video, I talk about his NBA career, why he got selected that high, and how he fell off. Hope you enjoy!

chicago bulls draft michael “air” Jordan

Biggest mistake by the Blazers taking Bowie with the second pick. If they didn't want to take MJ since they truly believe on Clyde Drexler, they could've taken Barkley instead. Lucky me I'm the biggest critic and basher of draft busts.
Just like Jordan, this dude likes to gamble too. I’ve seen him at Palm Beach Kennel club in FL a few times.
I thought len bias was first
We could've had Jordan, Barkley, and if a coin flipped the other way….OLAJUWON! GOD WE ARE AN UNLUCKY TEAM SMH
Ahhh UK been filling NBA with busts for decades!
Houston was going to take Olajuwan because he played college ball there. Portland had Clyde Drexler. You didn't really need MJ
Two reasons
1) the NBA was still fixated with the notion that dominant centers win championships
2) the trailblazers were stacked with guards
Nuff said
I saw a well written article about 10 years ago about this and I’m embarrassed to admit I can’t recall the writer’s name, but he emphasized that you can research and research exhaustingly and NEVER find one article or news story of any sportswriter critiquing or bashing the Bowie pick after the pick was made. Only deep into Jordan and Bowie’s rookie year was there any dialogue or conversation about Portland making a ridiculous pick. Which by that time it was an easy observation. But where were these smart knowitalls directly after the pick was made? Keeping their thoughts to themselves?
How is this video 10 minutes long?
Bruh, they didn't need a guard. They legit just drafted Drexler the year prior. They had Paxson too. Whom overall isn't memorable overall, but that 3-year stretch he was pretty reliable and decent.
All there is to it. In hindsight, horrendous results.. but if you got Tom Brady why tf would you draft Aaron Rodgers when you have no receivers?
Scheffler and Audie were their only Centers. After an abysmal Jordan rookie year, Audie went to play for Italy and two other countries. 1984-1985 was literally Scheffler's only Season in the NBA.
We even serious? 2 seconds. All it takes.
Imagine if Sam bowie got injured while walking up to shake sterns hand.
Blazers drafted Bowie AND Oden….both awesome…both grew too fast.
Moral of the history: blazers should not decided for third strike! It's inevitable, 3rd strike is coming!
Bowie
Oden
???
Blazers could have Drexler/Jordan Combo…. Missed a legendary Team.
still a solid career.
1:27 Portland Done F*CK'd UP BBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGG TIME… !!!!
Meet Pussbron Lame, thee MOST UNMASCULINE mammal that ever entered the NBA
ANYBODY who gets offended by this FACT is even worse 🙂
Bowie seems like a guy who worked hard to play 10 years in the league and have some success.
I'm not sure why they bother with a draft anymore. With all of the player mobility these days, why not just let the players and franchises figure it out? Nobody is trapped with a team anymore. It would also get rid of all that losing on purpose to get a higher draft pick.
Ben Simmons is a new Sam Bowie, I think
He was basically another Geg Oden. A talented Big with a lot of upside but was hindered by injuries.
The rest has been a history
Little did they know, that this man woudl beocme the goat
Ya he won't help us he sucks the worst draft by the bulls fast forward he is a hall of famer considered on of the greatest player of all time
They had no idea how much the fucking snatched
The Chicago Bulls drafted the GOAT.😂😂😂
And that’s where black Jesus began😈
Little did they know they drafted The Greatest of ALL TIME!
Who likes the nba draft 1984?
How many times his rookie card slipped through my hands…..ARGH!
Bull draft MJ 3rd and that's when he took it personally.
Never heard of him, did he play well
Greatest NBA draft steal of all time
I think he might be a great pick.
Little did they know that he would bring them six championships two three peats, he would win five MVPs and in his career being one of only two people to have an average of 30 points per game or more for a career and be the GOAT. Now sit back and imagine that there had to be people within the club that did not want to draft him and thought that he was not the best pick.
This guy is gonna be the next Kobe Bryant 🔥🐐
"So you think hakeem and sam are better than me??….okay fine…I'll show you that theyre not"
This Guy has the Potential to be a Star
Portland whiffed twice. Taking Sam Bowie over Jordan and Greg Oden over KD.
Dis in my recommended after 13 years
they just drafted the GOAT
