People like John Wayne come along in history never to be seen again. Everyone has a father that goes to work and raises them, our fathers are our own personal John Wayne's. A great man with the likes that will never be seen again !! God Bless him

PS/ My father was an 'extra', in the "Big Trail". Directed by Raoul Walsh [ my father's, brother inlaw /then/. He was friends with, Ward Bond…acted-in "The Big Trail". Never knew, if my father got aquainted with, John Wayne? This movie put John Wayne…"on-the-map", movie-wise, etc. One of Waynes, first movie's. Though it was'ent considered, a 'big hit', then. As the affects of the Great Depression, were still lingering on, into the early 1930's [started in 1929, apx.]. As Walsh was considered a top, movie director…and was. Deserved an Oscar, too! Such as the movie industry, goes! Always been a fan, of the "Duke". A loyal American, as many…know. Yours Truly

Changing one's birth name is like slapping your parents in the face. It's disrespectful and unnecessary. This is especially true if it's done for the anticipation of greater recognition and or financial gain.  So called "John Wayne" was no actor. He always spoke like he was reading his lines off story boards & his movements where animated.

Isn't it interesting how quickly they fall into friendly patter. Obviously, friends from way back.

You can see he's out of breath just trying to keep up the conversation. He clearly knew he had a expiration date and was trying to stay active as a way trying to maintain his health. I have a heart condition and recognize the behavior. You also get polite and grateful for what you once had after life has knocked you to the canvas 10 times in a row and you realize your about to lose everything you've acquired in your whole life and it doesn't really even matter anymore.
