How To Bet Golf – Sports Gambling Advice From A Sports Betting Expert

Thanks for checking out How To Bet Golf. I’m your host Sean Green from The Sports Gambling Podcast here to explain how to bet golf. If you’re thinking golf’s boring, “Oh my God, I don’t care about golf, I fall asleep watching it on television. Then you haven’t put enough money on golf, because golf can be one of the most exciting gambling events of all time!” Like when you win two grand betting Bubba Watson to win the 2012 Masters. That’s pretty awesome and pretty exciting. So I’m going to give you some strategies here on how to bet golf!

My first tip when it comes to betting golf, Don’t bet on Tiger Woods, whenever you do the most famous golfer of all time, all the value betting on Tiger Woods is completely gone. Yeah. maybe if you see a matchup prop, or will he hit the fairway, won’t he? Maybe. But to win a tournament or to get in the top 10 there is no value. Much like his marriage betting on Tiger Woods is over.

Another golf betting tip. Bet the course not the player. And what do I mean by that? Well, each course has its own personality, right, and certain styles match up with that course. Now don’t just look at the past leader board because those guys might not be playing the same and let’s say they’re not striking the ball as well. Well that’s not going to work as well for this course. So really do your research when it comes to what kind of style of golf matches with this course.

Another great golf betting tip when you’re looking at players value ball striking over putting because putting is hot and cold. If you’ve ever been on a mini golf course, you know sometimes you got it, sometimes you don’t. Your knees are knocking, you miss. Or you think it’s a three footer, it rims out, the cup can really spin you one way or the other, but ball striking, that’s consistent, right? Your woods, your irons, those guys that are great ball strikers, they’re consistent, they’re reliable, they’re your horses. The guys who are hot putting you can’t rely on them, so don’t load up on hot putters. Load up on hot ball strikers.

A common mistake when it comes to betting golf is just betting individual golfers to win the tournament, right? But there’s a lot more ways to get paid, especially matchup props. You think one golfer’s going to be really good. You think another one’s bad. That’s where you can get close to even money. That’s where you can get the (-110) (-120) over under on their rounds. That’s where you can get good, consistent bets.

Yeah, it’s fun to throw a couple darts out there, 25:1 for Bubba Watson to hit The Masters like I did in 2012 and I constantly bring it up, but for the most part, that’s not going to happen every time. And you’re really chasing money there. So keep it simple. Keep it consistent. Find those (-110) bets that you like.

One thing you always have to consider when betting golf is the weather, right? These guys are golfers, they’re not football players, any sort of rain, wind, crazy gusts, sleet, snow, whatever happens out on the golf course, that has a huge impact. If you look at The Open Championship, if the weather’s horrible, you can eliminate half the guys right there. These guys have enough to think about, right? They’re looking at the grass. Is that Bermuda? How long is that cut? It’s a mental nightmare. You factor in the weather. Forget about it.

So remember when it comes to betting golf factor in the course conditions factor in the weather. Stay away from Tiger Woods and you’ll be stacking tons of cash and there’s nothing boring about stacking tons of cash. And you can do it over at MyBookie.ag.

Steve and Bruce, Just so you know, from your last week's comments on The Sweet Spot , I'm not Suzann Pettersen the Norwegian golfer – note the slightly different spelling of our names – and, anyway, I'm a Danish national. Quite exciting over the weekend, but ultimately disappointing. I had Will Zalatoris edged out in that play off – he needs to improve with his putter. And I had a small each-way bet on Adrian Meronk, who shared 4th place in the end in Dubai with several others, at 125-1. He always seems to be thereabouts at a good price, and maybe will be winning soon. Most importantly, keep up the good work, and all the fun!

Had zalatoris and Rory double, Steve comments on Rory meltdown on 17 never seen him swear so much !!

  4. Michael Drain

Sky commentator after Hovland playing a fairway shot: “His has got to be one of the best chest movements in golf “. They do come out with a load of crap!

  5. Chris Cooke

    Late night was it Bruce?

  6. Andy Turner

Thanks Steve more than happy to take Van Rooyen each way and especially to cash out on Zalatoris before play off, overall surprised Morikawa made no charge, Hovland a major winner in the waiting, Rahm looking tetchy again while Mcllroy ending on a real low there ..

  7. Martin McKibbin

Aww Steve gutted for you with Zalatoris, blew it big time. At least we got the place money but I don’t think I’ll be doing him again until he gets the monkey off his back, he looked very nervy on 18th and extra play off hole. Driving for show, putting for dough on this occasion 😩

  8. Peter Hodge

    Zalatoris 🤞

Hi Bruce and Steve , for someone who starts work early Monday morning,
So good to have a final round on a Saturday evening 👍

  10. ROBERT Smith

We need to talk about theegala

So glad Keith Lawton mentioned Pavan on the comments here. As a regular on 'Pavan Watch' i was amazed to see the guy not only make the cut, though briefly contend as well until the final round. After the show, i have visions of the 'Angry Man' double (i.e. Rahm and Hatton) coming in. Fingers crossed Steve's selections triumph.

Good morning, Steve, Patiently waiting for you to tip CAMERON YOUNG, I know you are looking at
him closely as I am. surprised to see his issues with the par 5's last week and then the collapse. I had him w/Pieters and will have him again w/Pieters this week. His KFT numbers,
    6th P5 scoring, 4th eagles, 8th DD suggest the P5's will change. >>>>look at ANGEL YIN LPGA 600 to1
she completes my trebles, good luck great show i never miss

Wednesday morning I did an each way double on the golf for Dubai and the US & then I came across this on youtube.I was amazed that I,d come up with Steve,s two headliners.Hope I,m not a Jonah as I,m not having much luck so far this year.

Clark in the States is a bomber…12/5 to finish top 40 for me. Re moustaches Bruce Forsyth and Alec Guinness in Bridge over the River Kwai both rocked a Moustache…

  15. Johnny Byrne

Morning Steve / Bruce from a hot and sunny Thailand. Last week Morikawa & Casey were disappointing from the word go and then Cantlay faded away after R2. I had Cantlay & Lowry, both looking OK after R2 and thought was going to get placed part of my bet but poor rounds thereafter. Van Rooyen with that tash, you could stick him in the group Village People and do a version of YMCA. Commiserations with Weymouth getting beat (again). Good Luck this week.

  16. Scott Wheeler

    Hovland (redemption)

    Spieth
Buckley (dark horse for the season)
    Smalley

  17. Gary Cooper

Love the way the guys go off on a tangent and drop wildlife into the conversations hopefully the tips this week see plenty of birdies and eagles! Entertaining stuff gents well done. 👍😁😎

  18. Giles Moore

San Diego. Panda Watch. Was half expecting Ron Burgundy to make an appearance at the end. Brilliant stuff as always

  19. Tris Wood

You would think Steve would like the stop and start of the NFL seeing as it takes him 42 minutes to name 8 golfers 😁

  20. John Slater

Great lads. Zoological wonderland. Perhaps the pandas are knocking the nuts out of Steve's tree.

Another entertaining show. I'm backing Adri Arnaus in Dubai. I had Lowry last week; I wonder if he can bounce back from his horrible fourth round. I wonder if Hideki can pick up another win this week.
