Alabama left out of the College Football playoffs, talks Deion Sanders to Colorado | CFB | THE HERD

Joel Klatt joins Colin Cowherd after a big College Football weekend, where some huge upsets made some changes to the projected playoff picture. Despite Nick Saban’s campaigning, Alabama Crimson Tide was left out of the playoffs in favor of the Georgia Bulldogs, the Michigan Wolverines, TCU Horned Frogs and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Klatt tells Colin why he thinks leaving Alabama out was the right decision. Klatt also shares his thoughts on the matchups between the four remaining teams and gives his pick to win the Championship. They also talk about Deion Sanders, who’s making the move from JSU to head coach at Colorado. Klatt tells Colin why this hire excites him.

Saban begging is a glorious moment

Alabama would beat TCU 10 out of 10! Alabama should be undefeated, their losses were flukes. You two guys don’t know football.

Alabama just doesn't deserve to be in this season.
I think the biggest "arguments" are coming from the casual Bama fans, not the die hard fans.

The casuals think they are OWED a spot in the Playoffs.

Alabama was not left out, they didn’t earn their way in.

I think the expansion will be great for the playoff. There will always be contention as to the final team to get a spot no matter what the size ends up being. But with a 12 team playoff it eliminates a lot of the issues that do surround teams who should be in who don’t get in.

If you look at the top 12 as it stands now I don’t think you’d have any issues of leaving a team out. It allows in teams that could be contenders but lost games that kept them from the top four like Bama and Tennessee who could easily make a run if they were in a playoff. It would also allow in teams that had bit impacts in the conference titles in Kansas State and Utah. It would allow in a team that slipped like a USC. This year is a prime example of one where having an expanded playoff would be really interesting to see with how many really good teams slipped on some games they should’ve won and how sometimes the right team gets hit at the right time and wins a title they aren’t expected to like happens in the NFL.

I further like the expansion because it gives future non power teams an opportunity to compete for a championship. In the previous system ir was largely not possible for that to happen and now it is a reality. Sure a lot of those teams would probably be demolished by the top powers but I still love the idea of them getting a chance at it. I also think it will take away all the drama surrounding conference title games and the impact of losing one or a team who doesn’t get in the title because of their division not playing in one. I just think the expansion will do so much to alleviate a lot of the issues that have always surrounded crowning a champion in college football. And the emergence of a true playoff finally has me excited to tune in again. I got tired of the four team playoff and how it was so often the same teams on repeat. Sure those teams wil still be there and probably still win but I like the chance that others get in and maybe pull off upsets to change stuff up.

Since you are familiar with the people that run college playoffs, why not put the top 6 or 8 to make it fair

Alabama left themselves out of the playoffs. Nick Booho Saban can't have his way all the time ⌚. He is to 🧓 old and needs to retire.

What hasn't been mentioned, at all, is that Colorado hasn't had a stud quarterback in over a decade. The most important position on the field has been an absolute disaster for Colorado.

The other aspect of this is getting top recruits to VISIT Boulder.

Boulder is one of the most incredible environments in the country. The school and its setting, with that on campus stadium, is INCREDIBLE. When recruits get there, the combination of Prime's electric personality and resume coupled with that town and school, recruits won't leave without committing…,.
