No, the reason we like sports is because we empathize with the players and when they win we feel as if we've won. Winning is a huge part of the brain's reward system. It's the same reason we root for fictional characters and other people: empathy.
What if I don't like sports whatsoever because they just seem like they're stupid? It's stupid to watch a bunch of guys play with balls. If there were more women playing such games and guys looking at women weren't considered sinful, or "sexist" which is a feministic version of sinful applying to men only basically, maybe I'd bother watching women play the games. Still, spectator sports are way too hyped up, super expensive, athletes are way too overpaid, and I rather play video games where I actually play rather than watch millionaire level yuppies who would probably be jerks to the poor play stupid ball games. Video games actually give you something to do other than watch and yell at morons chasing balls. Dead Space or Mass Effect I rather play anyday.

I was rooting for San Diego St. since Kansas got bounced by Arkansas & for some reason now this schools not solely mid majors but conferences that don't many national TV games like SDSU who may had like 2 TV games on CBS when adding the MWC Championship game & hell Fl. Atlantic who plays on cable, its not everyday these types of schools make a deep run. Hell enjoy the fact that no #1 seeds are in the Elite 8 but it'll be Brandon Miller not being clutch
