worth mentioning that the reason the mens sprint team lost, was because their leadout man injured his back just a few weeks ago, leading to a significantly slower start, which they nearly managed to recover from. Given the leadout is pushing 2500+ watts, that's sort of a big deal! lol

Really liked watching Marc Hirschi ever since his breakout at the Tour. He’s also a very good track rider, having taken a World Championship in the Madison as a Junior. Then a World Championship on the road as a U23.

Does anyone know Ganna's wattage output for the 4K ITT? My guess is between 525W to 575W. A guy 6'4" has the advantage of long legs and thus has a greater mechanical advantage over a rider with shorter legs. Less force is needed on the pedal for a given power level. It's the same principle if you're working on your car and are trying to loosen a stuck bolt by attaching an extension or "cheater bar" to the wrench/ratchet handle to get more torque on the bolt. The extension applies greater torque to the stuck bolt for the same force applied to the wrench/ratchet handle.
I didn't know anything about track cycling a year ago, but now I've become quite certain that it's an awesome part of the sport.
The enduro races are always a balance between class, form and luck filtered through split-second decisions, while the pursuits and the sprint races are terrific displays of power.
I was glued to the broadcasts on all 5 days, great stuff!
