    Can we stop making it out like Jerry West saw a diamond in the rough? Everybody wanted Kobe. But Kobe wanted to go to a big market team. He threatened to go play in Italy if small teams picked him up. That's why other teams passed on him, not because nobody else saw potential in Kobe.

    If Jerry West was so amazing, why do so few people remember the players the Lakers drafted in the 3 years prior to Kobe being drafted? Or the 3 years after?

    As much as I love Kobe I can’t help but think the league had no interest in him being in a small market like Charlotte and made sure he ended up in LA or a similar big market.
