People comparing this to Kane last summer? A couple of differences:
– Kane did the interview in about May where he made it quite clear that he was looking to move, and it seems that there had been some work going on behind the scenes where he knew City wanted him. In the end it didn’t happen and he came out and said he was staying.
– Ronaldo waited until July to say or realise that he wanted to play in the CL even though it was obvious united wouldn’t be playing CL football in late-April. Also the interest he and Mendes seemingly imagined would come about hasn’t materialised.
That’s now me defending Kane as he was naive to actually believe Levy was a man of his word with that ‘gentleman’s agreement’ nor should he have signed a 6 year deal in 2018. If anything, it’s Mendes who has dropped Ronaldo in it. This is the super-agent with contacts all over the world, surely he’d have had already found out which clubs were interested beforehand?
