Reason so simple. U gave away the entire defensive squad for some young guys. I don't know why GSW wants to choose between an already champ ready squad and a young roster. There's really no such thing as building a young roster because too many unknowns. Young players don't develop the way u want, and even if it does, NOT every player. They might injure, turn bust, poor chemistry, and even if a superstar is developed, he's just gonna ask more or leave. NBA teams always want to PLAN ahead to build the future, BUT future is extremely unpredictable and uncontrollable. GSW already has a champ squad that doesn't happen often in a hundred years, WHY give it away?? U give away $10 million prize for certain today in return for a 2 million prize 5 years later with 1 percent probability.

I think the last "best" team to win may have been Spain.. they were a wrecking ball for 6 years plus. France were pretty good in 2018 yes but in terms of what the world expects as best team going into a tournament, no one has compared to that Spain team. And then before that was obviously Brazil back in pele days and even 94, and Japan 2002. Right now it's Brazil again. But even though I can't name even a few players off top of my head, Denmark is such an underrated threat. IMO they dominated qualifying and nations league and made france look normal. I've commented before that I believe they will win their group and their path may be a glory run to the final.

I'd say yes, at least since I've been watching the world Cup in 2010, Spain was the best team from 2008-2012, Germany was irresistible in 2014, France was standout favorites way before the world Cup came about.
