a better betting sequence would be to have a single start and reset point that you can work both up and down from, Example 50 win increases by 5 to 55 win again go tom 60,65,70,75 etc as soon as you lose decrease all the way back down to 50 again if you lose again decrease by 5 to 45 lose again go down to 40,35,30,25,20 etc as soon as you win restart at 50.

What if facing a double down situation and you lost it.

I've been playing bj for a long time and this is basically how I have come to play the game, at least my first game when I show up at the table. It is safe, however be careful if you do go on a hot streak, plenty of times I've progressively increased my bets only to get a split or double down that doesn't work out and brings me back to even. Try to find a sweet spot to bring your bet back down for a hand or 2 even if you are winning every hand so you don't get a disastrous 4 way split hand or something while playing 5-10 times your minimum bet. In other words always pay attention to your stack and have a bet ceiling.
