    That's the problem with the franchise system.. in football (or soccer for you) if you suck, you get demoted to a lower league, so no one is incentivised to suck on purpose

    While I get your point, it’s worth noting that there definitely is an in between with teams like Portland and Indiana (who you failed to mention picked up Tyrese Halliburton and Buddy Hield in that trade, helping a front court heavy team add spacing), and Detroit in this most recent draft spent draft capital to jump back into the first round to take Jalen Duren to pair with Ivey and Cunningham. Yes, some franchises do tank but I don’t believe it’s as drastic as this short makes it out to be. Teams like the Knicks have brought in guys like Julius Randle to try and support young talent and the Pels trading for CJ to push for just a play in spot should not be ignored.
