Texas Mom Has Reason to Smile After Getting Teeth Fixed Rather Than Replaced by Dentures

A young mother discovered she would be getting her teeth fixed free of charge at Dr Kenny Wilstead’s dental clinic in Garland, Texas, on Monday, October 19.

Dr Wilstead told Storyful that 22-year-old Kelsey came into his dental office expecting to have all her teeth removed so she could get top dentures. Many of her teeth had decayed from drinking soda and smoking.

When the day finally came for Kelsey to undergo the procedure, Dr Wilstead said, “I just couldn’t do it … I’m not going to be the dentist who puts dentures in a 22-year-old girl’s mouth.”

Wilstead said he prefers to help his patient keep their teeth when possible. So he spent five hours removing all the decay on Kelsey’s top teeth and putting a cosmetic crown on each one, free of charge.

Footage shared by Dr Wilstead shows him speaking to Kelsey about the personal struggles she has with her teeth, including how she has no pictures with her son due to feelings of shame. It also shows him breaking the news to Kelsey and her mom as well as a timelapse of the surgery.

“Kelsey was beyond grateful and very emotional,” he said.

“They’re perfect,” Kelsey can be heard saying as she looks at her new smile and cries with joy.

I paid $4,200.00 from my TSP Funds I've been saving while working for year that was suppose my funds for after I retire and wait for my pension instead i had to pay for reconstruction of my bottom jaw and replace some of my teeth as well. If I didn't save this money at all while i was still working all half of my bottom teeth would has fell out on their own.

Did any of the teeth need crown lengthning beforehand?

I have 22 teeth, many of which could be salvaged, but I don't have the money, and at 7 months pregnant, medicaid still won't pay for more than 1,000 usd of work, I need like 15,000 to 30,000! I have no real income and not great credit, and this will be my 5th baby, as a single mom. Due to domestic violence and chronic illness and problems stemming from the d.v., my teeth are just in terrible shape and it feels like no one can help me. I don't smile anymore because I don't want to scare my babies. I'm worried my baby due soon won't be getting enough nutrients because I can barely eat. It's a living nightmare every day, abcesses, incessant pain, and the embarrassment of feeling three times my age. Please help, help us all in such great need and such times of intense despair….❤

Truly so so so happy for you! Thank goodness for people like this awesome dentist! I wish i could find one that doesn't want to just do 22 extractions and throw some dentures in like I'm garbage.

What a rare man along with his team. I've had several crowns over the years, and they are far from being cheap in price. This man hides his wings so very well.

В чём проблема просто следить за состоянием своих зубов?????
Не обязательно запускать до такого состояния.

I lost all my teeth at age 36. It’s been hell. Absolute hell. Dentures hurt so much and I’ve tried to get approved for implants but apparently my credit score isn’t good enough. I need help.

natural food, clean water, a minimum of sour and sweet, lots of fruits, vegetables and herbs – teeth heal on their own, like any wound on the skin, only longer in time
