Well they were 0-2 in Prague so a little rough start… I say 5th if they can be competitive

Sharks fan here. Agree with a lot of what was said. I think people in general need to be nicer to Doug Wilson however, that guy built a franchise that was one of the most competitive playoff franchises in all of hockey for nearly 20 years. Eventually you had to pay for what they didn’t get, and if they won in 2016 or 2019 we wouldn’t be talking about him that way. Praying over here that the Sharks get a top 3 pick and can really kickstart that rebuild. Also can’t forget about Eklund or Bordeleau as rising stars.

With the contracts they have, San Jose just needs to be patient. If the cap is going up significantly in 24-25, that is the best time to sell off the likes of Hertl & Couture and even E.K.

  4. Lindsay

I kind of hope the Sharks tank. Chicago and Arizona both don't deserve the first overall pick

Oof… although dis sharts fan wasn't expecting any love to begin with. lol…

This team should just retain salary and trade off that slacker Karlsson….. definitely the under. The Sharks have zero identity.

    Shark… shark TANK

  9. Jim K

Meier has a RFA with Arb, its going to cost. Those other contracts have NMCs or a 30+ yr old with multi mil/multi year left on it. 8th place and you're welcome Sharks fans.

As a sharks fan, I 100% agree with these takes. We need to tank but we’re still holding onto good players like Hertl and Meier. Ideally we get off to a rough start and Hertl/Meier get moved at the deadline for picks

  11. Justin Gray

I have San Jose 8th with 77 points

  12. Nate Rosenbaum

Moving Timo is a no go. He is someone that you build around

    Shark Tank time

Sharks need a top 10 pick, and need to trade to get at least a top 15 pick aswell. We need a strong hand in the next draft

  15. Calvin Biefeld

Awful team….Besides Meier and Hertl it's a train wreck….Don't expect more than 20 wins this upcoming season.

  16. Michael Walters

From a sharks fan: Leafs legend Barabanov isn't going to Europe cause he's injured. He was a 47 point player on the top line last year,. That said, the sharks are bad, and the more games they lose this year the better. Unless the Sharks call up Eklund and Bordeleau and they both light the league on fire(extremely unlikely), the team will be out of the playoff race before thanksgiving. The D core is bad, and already down 2 guys. Jesse has the right take here, they'll be last. If they pick top 5, that would be ideal for the future.

Oh hey, a season preview after their first game.

  18. Jean-Philippe Doyon

San Jose Sharks…let keep the fire sale up and finally start a real rebuild ! They have so many bad contracts and so little high level prospects…it's pretty much square one. Hertl and Meier are great pieces but they will need more.

    Loving these previews boys.

I think the Sharks would love to tank but man have they got some cap problems. I don't really foresee those issues going away for a few years so they might just be stuck in cap hell until some of those massive contracts (Vlasic, Karlsson, etc) come off the books. Personally I'd be hammering that under.

WTB a tank please. I’m ok with it if they do. Those contracts are unfortunately terrible.
