Just brilliant trade down a clinic
This is a C level Draft, here’s why
1. I like every CB that was picked.
2. The 3rd round pick reeks of BB loving “Hybrids” over actual talent
3. the OLine picks don’t address the issue with the tackles currently.
4. NOBODY should justifying trading up for a goddamn kicker. NOT AT ALL. And Punter?
What NFL does BB think he’s viewing?

Both Ryland and Beringer were steals in the draft, especially getting them when they did. When a guy averages 50 yards plus per punt in the environs of Michigan State and Ryland can pop them from 60 to 65 yards and kick off deep – you got two winners. I don’t care what anybody says. kicking is a big part of football. Big part!

I say as long as the Patriots re-sign their top two TEs (hoping Gesicki is solid to very good), I give this draft a solid B. 49ers taking a kicker in the 3rd pushed the Patriots to jump to snag their kicker. Love the Gonzalez, Mapu, Boutte, Douglas picks. Hopeful the Speed and Bolden picks work out. Excited about the Cunningham UDFA QB/RB/WR.
That Chad kid better be as good as Goskowski for where they took him

My favorite pick was Kayshon Boutte. A year ago he was considered a top 10 pick. He struggled last year but I think he has a lot of potential.
C 😂 This is not gonna age well….
C- is crazy I say a solid B we needed a long term kicker and a long term answer at punter. Yeah we could’ve gotten them in UDFA but these two guy wouldn’t have been available we know that. Guard and Centers we needed them, onwenu is going to cost us to much after this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if we traded him for a 3-4 rounder by the end of training camp. We are solid at receiver tbh, and we got more weapons there. Arguably the best secondary in the league now with C Gonzalez, J, J, M, Jones and Bryant. Safeties are solid especially with that 3rd round pickup!
When the kicker wins 5 games, that would make the overall grade a B.

Our kicking game and special teams really hurt us last year. I really don't mind what they did. In picking these guys when they had to.
Just happy we got tall corners. Must have finally got the hint after years of me posting about their short corners getting dumped on by tall te’s and receivers.

BB doesn't treat special teams as an afterthought. That's because he recognized that a unit can have a bad day but the other 2 can pick up the slack. They can't fix the wrong person making calls or running the wrong type of system for a season. But for 1 or 2 games a year when say the offense has a bad game? That can make or break a game or even a season.

Punters and kickers are among the 5..maybe 10.. most important positions on the team. Field position is king, PATs and FGs will win games..or lose them!
2021 Packers are a great example of why you should never whiff on special teams. Bill in his 20+ years as the Pats HC has always made sure special teams have been well coached.
How? By passing up on real football players!

Pats had 12 picks. They're gonna sleep well for awhile with # 2 kicker and #1 punter out of the draft. Like you said, low risk. Easy picks. Heck they may go Get Ariaza too lol

The Pats have always been great at Special Teams. Matthew Slater is a hall of famer. Marcus Jones became an absolute unit on literally every side of the ball. So no one should be questioning Bill when it comes to this stuff.
Yep I was thrilled to see this. And how great would it be to have the same 2 kickers for a decade or more? Awesome super stoked to feel like the patriots are going to have some consistency moving forward since they’ve been all over the map since Brady left it’s hard to even know who’s suiting up for games haha
