Notre Dame should absolutely stay Independent and see how this all shakes out.
I think the ACC may add Memphis and maybe SMU. People ask me if the PAC 12 doesn't implode like everyone here thinks it will (remember everyone was saying the same about the Big 12 not long ago) then it's back to the original expansion plans of Boise State and Memphis. If the Big 12 doesn't get Oregon and they stay in the PAC 12, I think the big 12 should just go ahead and get Boise State and Memphis like.they originally planned.
The ACC is in a really bad spot. Instead of alignment with the Pac Twelve conference they should've be trying to get with the Big Twelve conference. Let the Big Twelve conference expand and get some of the Pac Twelve and from a division of like Southwestern and Eastern conferences and the better teams play for the right to be in the college national title game.
Why am I the only complaining that this is clickbait?
What a horrible idea. All you have to do is invite (and add) Colorado, Arizona, Arizona St., and Utah. That will force Oregon and Washington's hand. There is no way if those first four defect to the Big 12 that Oregon and Washington are going to remain with leftovers from the Pac-12. If the Big10 doesn't extend an offer at that point, Oregon and Washington will be glad to hop into the Big 12. They may not be happy about it but it is better than the alternative. Make them sign into the new GOR and keep the new Big 12 together for the next 10-15 years. At that point the ACC GOR will be expiring and we can do this whole thing all over again with Clemson, Florida St., and Miami jumping to the SEC and UNC and Virginia (plus Oregon & Washington?) jumping to the Big 10.
If University of Nike ends up in the Big12, it would be a huge humiliation for NIKE/Phil Knight/UOwe. That school didn't go all in with Uncle Phil/NIKE in order to compete with the Iowa States/Kansas States/Kansas of the world. They were suppose to be an elite program, capable of going up against Big10, SEC teams on a national stage, so as to promote the NIKE brand. If all they're left is be broadcast in the Midwest, which they think is inferior, then it becomes evident it was all a scam, they were never more than a second rate outfit. I don't know if they can compete effectively in the Big12, but they cannot participate with the prime conferences….
Arizona State, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Cal should join Big 12. Washington State and Oregon State should join Mountain West Conference. Pac 12 should be dissolved.
This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. When advertisers are negotiating their broadcast rights deals, they want to be able to see what kind of matchups the conference will play in order to determine the worth of the audience. If Udub and Uowe can leave any time they want, then why would I agree to sign a broadcast rights deal with that conference if by next year that conference all goes to hell??? I'd be crazy and stupid to do such a thing, and advertisers are neither…
There’s not much in the Big12 that’s particularly enticing for Oregon and Washington. It’s a safety move at best. They’re not going jump now, but as other options dry up their tune might change. Like how Big12 fans suddenly developed an interest in joining the pac after years of badmouthing west coast folks. There’s much to overcome on both sides for this to be a willing partnership.
Udub and UOwe don't have any leverage. Big10 has said thanks, but no thanks, to both programs. That's a real world evaluation of the worth of both schools….
something big to watch guys, there is one guy on twitter who is a West Virginia guy who predicted USC/UCLA to BIG TEN before anyone did. back in April. He's been right on a lot of this stuff going back 12 years ago. His tweet is still pinned from April. We know ESPN is not talking with the Pac 12 on a new tv contract. CBS who is losing CBS has also now announced they will not be looking at the Pac 12, but both will be bidding on the Big 12. This means more $$$$ and I would look at this as a sign that Pac 12 schools will be leaving for the Big 12. MHver3 is the guy to look for.
Cal and Stanford to the Big Ten makes so much sense.
I don't understand the click bait title to this video…when I read it..looked like Oregon and Washington joined the Big 12.
I don't think Big 12 should add Oregon and Washington. Adding 2 teams that are yearning for Big 10 will be toxic to the conference in the future.Big 12 with Ok st, Baylor, Cin, Byu, tcu I think Big 12 football is pretty good. Just wait ACC to fall and grab North carolina, duke and virginia and become the best in the league in baskeball.
The big ten has always been and always be the superior conference. We have been around and dominating for well over a 100 years.
Sounds like a quick money grab if you're the big 12, but those extra 2-3 years even if it's only a couple million dollars extra per school add up. Would save on some of the NIL money at least.
I like the idea.
Andy Staples does it again… Somebody tell Yormark!!
That is crazy…I would not be in an agreement with a team that doesn’t sign a contract. That is like asking your girlfriend to marry you….she says ok but wants to continue to date to see if she can find someone better.
This is a very new concept for me when it comes to conference realignment negotiations but it actually makes pretty good sense. ACC won’t work and Big Ten said their not interested. As long as you got Oregon, you’ll all get a better TV deal which will make them happy long term, then you can later lock them into a contract.
You still think the big 12 has that pull? You’re getting the Arizona schools and Colorado back. Oregon is too valuable
