We have lost one of the true greats of the game. Willie was the last of the great guard of Mickey, Hank, Clemente, Jackie and so many more. Rest in peace Mr. Mays, hope you are enjoying yourself playing ball up there. Thoughts and prayers for his family and friends. He truly touched our hearts and there will never be another like him. For the younger generation, I encourage you to research this legend.

Thank You MLB for the best tribute by far to our greatest baseball player Willie Mays.
He was great on the field and off, inspiring millions around the world. He was humble about it, saying he was doing the best he could same as everyone else. They all make baseball great.

    Say Hey!

Who could leave him off their HoF ballot? Absurd.

If Mays hadn’t lost two years in the service he very well could’ve topped Ruth’s record.

Did Willie wear a helmet? Did Willie Mays wear elbow pads? Did he wear ankle pads? Did he take a day off in the day because he played a night game the day before?

    Rest easy Mr Mays!!!

Audio clip @ 1:07 is Mets Lindsey Nelson during Willie's first game in NY 5/72.
Goofy Gi-ants fans couldn't touch what Willie and the team had in aNY.
Does anybody have more footage from his night at Shea in '73?

His lasting impact is one cannot say “ Willie Mays” without smiling! Name another historical character that you can say without smiling?”

Nothing special everybody sooner or later go the same way

If Willie hadn't lost two seasons to military service and having to hit in Candlestick park he might have challenged the Babes HR record. Would his popularity have spared him the harassment that Henry had to endure .

  16. @mrjipper

What more could he have accomplished if he did not have to serve his country for 2 years. Thanks for the memories sir. 🥰
