The way the Tkachuk family has been front and center these playoffs, I can see them commentating on the Stanley Cup finals on ESPN2 and Sportsnet 360 like how the Mannings do on Monday Night Football.
I think Markstrom let McDavid get in his head. The Oilers in general, and McDavid in particular love that cross ice pass into the slot far side. Exactly what happened after that second goal. After that, we see Markstrom down early, and deep in his net, waiting to push across to meet the pass instead of playing out and challenging the shooter. The next 3 are caused by this, 2 of which he gets a piece of but not enough. Come third period, he settles down, probably got talked to by the coaches, and comes out playing his style again. Let’s one goal in that period on a rebound but gets his confidence back.
I’m actually glad sutter didn’t pull him. We got the win, but more importantly, we let Markstrom figure it out and get back some confidence by the end of the game. In my opinion, we are going to see him come back stronger this game, but time will tell.

Carolina has an underrated defense. Nedeljkovic won the Calder last season and Freddie will be a Vezina finalist, who is currently outplaying the Vezina favorite. Seriously, most people's initial reaction to the Carolina trade for Freddie was that Carolina was making a risky move. I don't believe Canes fans are regretting losing Ned in favor of Freddie. I feel for Leafs fans. Freddie, Kadri, Hyman, Bozak, Mason Marchment, and Barrie are still playing.

Losing game 1, not a big deal, can't have a 7 game series if the Rangers win every time. The BoA is the series everyone is watching, even in the East they're staying up well past their bedtime. This could be a good series but they need to develop a hate-on for each other, Canes/Rangers don't have a major rivalry like Flames/Oilers or even Panthers/Bolts.

Rangers give up a goal inside of 3 minutes to play is bad sign. Where was the defense with 2+ minutes to go????? If the Rangers don't win the next game this series is over. They will not come back down 3 games to 1 like against Pittsburgh.
