How Do NFL Betting Odds Work?

In this video I will explain to you exactly how NFL betting odds work, and the easiest way to understand them.

I go over what both the odds with the negative (-) sign means and what the odds with the positive (+) sign means, including a full example using betting against the spread and on the moneyline.

You will see that in the video I have the Baltimore Ravens as 4 point favorites against the Pittsburgh Steelers, both with -110 odds. I explain that the negative sign in front of the number is showing you that the number is how much you will need to bet in order to win 0. So with -110 it shows you that you will need to bet 0 to win 0.

I also have the money line odds listed with Pittsburgh at +190 and Baltimore at -230. The +190 shows you how much you will win with a 0 bet. So in this case a 0 bet at +190 would payout 0 in winnings.

Check out the video explaining how the football betting odds work for a better explanation.

It helps but doesn't make any sense. Why would I bet $110 to win $100??? What kind of come up is that? I'm losing $10 … so why am I'm betting in the first place???

So +4 means the team is expected to lose by 4? Then the ML(money line) is positive then betting 100 gets back whatever that number is, but if it is negative then it means if you bet 100 this is what you get back.

I'm kinda sorta get it so if there's a negative next to a football team I should bet money because that team has more chances of winning? how about when it has a positive sign next to the team? how high the number gotta be for a sure bet?

So if you have to bet 110 dollars to only get 100 dollars, does that mean you cant bet on the favored team or your always going to lose money?

Yo geek…I've got the jyst of it but can break down parleys? Like lets say a 3 game parley? Like how much laid and won and how do the odds and spreads etc factor in.do u just pick 3 winners or have be 3 beaters of spread winners? What's the pay out say on 100 bones 3 game parley is that 300 won or do odds of each game influence it so there is no set formula due to varying of spreads or odds? Can u break it down like talkin to children please??
