I am Nigerian. Egypt kinda impressed me so far. They started very slow in the tournament but showed class against the Guinea team that was playing with so much energy & intensity but no real purpose if you ask me. Egyptians were more deadly on goal & in their final 3rd & Egypt knew when to attack & defend in mass too. Congratulations to the young pharaohs.
I don't know how we will watch this tournament and reach the conclusion of our national teams must be full of European based players and coached by only white (mostly retirees) from Europe and in some cases North America. Indigenous coaches have their teams playing far better than the star studded national teams. I noticed the same at the U20 and U17 CAF tournaments and women. We need to turn our focus into building our leagues and turning them into economic contributors for our economies on the continent instead of farming players to Europe style that majority of West Africa countries are doing while paying their leagues zero attention.
Congratulations to the young Pharaohs of Egypt. I hope that Guinea and Mali can join them at the Olympics.
