I could remember watching 👀 this Final live during my university days at Obafemi Awolowo university Ile- Ife Nigeria formerly university of ife. We were 2-0 down before the fight back by chuks ndukwe's goal who was playing in Bari Italy at the time and JJ OKOCHA Masterclass volley from outside the box securing a 2-2 Scoreline however I refused to celebrate because I was of the opinion that I will celebrate when Nigeria scores the third goal based on my instincts which never happened and the game went into extra time and penalties which Nigeria lost due to lack of goal line technology and VAR system currently in place today. This match was reminiscent of Nigeria's defeat at the World Cup to Italy in USA 94
Good memories and a great footballing generation for both Nigeria and Cameroon. Etoo was very Young and introduced himself as a future great in African football then.
I remember this match … Nigeria's 4th penalty crossed the line, but somehow, the referee, linesman and even the spot kicker didn't know it crossed the line. VAR this days would have reviewed it.

The final that Cameroon won with cheating. Even commentator said" definately went over the line" And he repeated"definitely" that's why Nigerians will NEVER forgive Cameroonians until they write on their official page that Nigerians are CHEATED on 2000 AFCON Final.
i always love the physicality of the Cameroonian team but with advancement of football technogically now the result of that game will be different now, one love to all the legends of the game.

The 1994 Team remains my greatest of all Nigerian national teams. As for striker, pity Rashid Yekini had a relatively short appearance for the national team. My bets Nigerian footballer, a marvel to watch, was Austin Azuka 'Jay-jay' Okocha. From Joburg, South Africa😊
I remember watching this game as a 14 year old kid….it was on a Sunday evening, started watching football from France 98 world cup … remember my heart was beating so fast through out the game, after we lost sadly on penalties I couldn't eat dinner cried all night and threw my food in the dustbin… remembered this game just like yesterday 24 years later

That was a clear penalty goal if it was VAR era. The ball already crossed the line but they didn't count it.
