You really have to simply look at what you're spending.Topic for my own subscribers this week. Finances. Part of advancing yourself is having a state of financial security. Many don't because they have let the norms of society convince them they need to have things that aren't important. Like that new car that is a 700 a month payment when you could get a lesser one for 300 a month. Or going to TGI Friday's every week which runs a hundred bucks for your family instead of grilling out which would run 20. If people would really look at what they spend on nonsense they would find that they could easily put away a thousand a month in investments. You don't have to live minimalistic, you just have to live smart. You don't buy a vehicle based on what others will think of you (mine is 14 years old with dents everywhere even though I could purchase a Corvette outright today). You bring lunch to work instead of eating out every day (which is less healthy most likely too.) You don't spend 150 a month for all that media entertainment. You don't get a four wheeler just because your neighbor got one. You don't have a five dollar mocha twice a day. All this stuff adds up. And you don't buy a house you can barely afford. Remember-
living paycheck to paycheck keeps you a slave. If you have financial freedom you are always in the position to direct your own life with those slave chains cut. Hope this helps someone-out there-CharlesYou should be so proud of yourselves!! Good job figuring it out while you're so young!!
I would enjoy more budget videos. My husband and I are working to pay off our house bc we have 6 children and I am 24 weeks along with #7. We want the piece of mind of knowing we own our home and can't be taken away from us. A family of our size it would be difficult to find an apartment or house to rent. Also if we could afford a house that size to rent then we would be able to pay our mortgage so if something happened and we were foreclosed on then we wouldn't be able to afford rent either. In jan we owed $174,900. I just paid septembers payment and we now owe $139,000. I'm excited to see that number continue to go down.

It’s great for you to share this story!! I’m in full support of getting married young, but often young people aren’t prepared for what’s ahead. We weren’t either (that’s been 18 years ago now!) but honestly, it taught us so many more lessons than if we had started out with good jobs and easy life. I wanted to hug you when you talked about that smoky apartment. Our first apartment was so bad, when we visited family, I would open up our suitcase and all our clothes smelled like cigarette smoke- all form the smoking neighbors! (The walls were so thin!)… but it made our next apartment seem like a dream come true! It made us so thankful for little things. We didn’t have enough those first few years to go get Starbucks unless someone gave us a gift card. That experience has made it a joy for us to be able to give to others now that we’re much further down the road. Thanks for sharing your story!
