I know that the Big Ten has went to a Flex protect plus format but I am with Tom on keeping the Central time zone for the LA schools. So I think that UCLA should play Nebraska & Illinois along with USC & USC should play Wisconsin & Northwestern along with UCLA. These 4 Universities are all on the Central time zone. But I totally would have liked to see a USC/Michigan State annual rivalry for the Trojan trophy.
Dont forget USC opens up against LSU in 2024 in Las Vegas. If USC got LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio St & Mich State the first year they would have the Hardest schedule in the Nation
What I like about this is, the B1G teams won't always be playing on the home turf of the Pac opponents. USC is one of the only teams that Michigan has a negative record against (4-6). I also look forward to the Pac teams improving due to exposure and absolute games with national interest. I can see improvement across the entire B1G conference. With ESPN faltering by the day It makes me wonder what the SEC will do for revenue if ESPN dumps completely as are the indicators of that happening.
With USC playing UCLA, Michigan playing Ohio State, and Indiana playing Purdue who does Michigan State end their season with? Thats why they have to play Penn State every year.
I disagree with a lot of these. The TV networks are going to tell the conference how to do this and they're going to build as many major tv spectacles as possible. They'll keep the big rivalries for sure but they're going to absolutely load up USC, OSU, UM, and PSU schedules.
It should be
UCLA: USC, Michigan (battle of best public institutions w/ most combined revenue sports titles and historic stadiums), Nebraska (historically successful football programs suffering dry spell plus historic matchups);
USC: UCLA, Ohio State (Crown Jewels of Big Ten college football), Penn State (historic programs).
I think the UCLA matchups with USC, Michigan, and Nebraska are no brainers. For USC, it would obviously be UCLA and Ohio State. If Penn State makes USC’s schedule too tough then I’d probably replace them with Northwestern so that both private schools get matched up.
OSU definitely have much more to show off with in this model than Michigan, and most schools for that matter. Two Tier 1 schools with Penn St and Mich, and (albeit last year) tier 2 school in Illinois. Michigan by contrast has a tier 2 school in Mich St, a tier 1 in OSU and a tier 3 in Rutgers.
If you don't think Ohio State Michigan and USC aren't driving the scheduling you are crazy
Nicely done. Cant wait to get to the Big10
Purdue and Illinois have played for the Purdue Cannon since 1943.
Backstory: In the 1905 season a group of Purdue students built a miniature cannon the shoot off to celebrate a victory at the University of Illinois. Illinois staff caught wind if the plan and confiscated it. During the second World War they started play for it. I've seen them shoot it off a few times.
😆 come on, USC needs an easy yearly rivalry like everyone else.
The problem is Michigan has too many rivals. OSU, MSU, Trophy games with MN and Northwestern. As a Michigan fan, I am 100% OK with dropping MSU every year, if it meant playing UCLA every year instead. UCLA is already a rival to Michigan when it comes to "best public university in the country".
Wisconsin should get Michigan state and Michigan should get UCLA.
Michigan actually brings ratings nationally and has huge alumni bases in New York and L.A. no one cares about the Michigan vs spartan game but Michigan state fans
Rutgers, unfortunately really makes sense for Michigan. The wolverines have been killing it recruiting Jersey down to the DMV. There's a huge Michigan alumni base in and around New York to want to pay attention to that game. It's just really mean and unfair to Rutgers. Lol
The Spartans had one good run against Michigan in my entire lifetime and it was when Michigan was total dumpster fire trash after 2 horrible coaching hires in a row and a terrible athletic director. The success of michigan state and Ohio against the wolverines in football needs a lot more often to start being qualified and juxtaposed against how absolutely terrible Michigan was for a decade.
The only school and fan base clamoring for the Michigan Michigan state game are Spartans.
State will say Michigan is chicken or punks or scared or whatever but the reality is they're just insignificant and do not matter at all to the health and success of the wolverine football team.
I'm sure if someone looks up the TV ratings of that game they will fall way way short of when Michigan plays more relevant teams.
It's not fair to make USC , Penn state, Ohio, and Michigan play each other entry single year. That's just ridiculous.
How can you even attempt to also play a nationally relevant non con game every year.
This talk about Michigan having to play Michigan State is just annoying and silly at this point.
Michigan needs michigan state for absolutely nothing.
Not money, not tv ratings, not recruiting, absolutely nothing.
If ratings and money matter, and rules these new configurations, it makes a lot of sense to drop the game with the Spartans to the every other year model and make UCLA the third yearly protected game
Just put USC snd UCLA in the West Division… The big boys are in the East Division… So both of them in the West they’ll feel right at home with the other middle tier West teams…
Michigan should play northwestern not Rutgers
Don’t give USC three tough games. We need to make it to the playoffs!
3-9 for BYU
As a byu fan I agree with this.
BYU usually starts off strong and then blows the majority of the 2nd half of the season, due to injuries. Happens every time.
7-5 but I wouldn’t be shocked with 8-4 or 6-6 if Slovis isn’t great
Im a utes fan as well and i agree byu is not the greatest team but nobody wants to play them because of there capability of upsetting top teams i would bet they Finnish above 500 and that they do it beating teams they shouldnt and probably losing to a couple teams they shouldn't
6 wins
Or as Uncle Lou calls them “The Bicycle College”
4 wins might be logical but we wish better of course
I’d take 6-6 for the first year with a decent bowl game agains a P5. Even with my blue goggles I can’t expect more.
Over time I say the cougars will finish better than 500 in an average season but 23 is a real mystery since they lost a lot of talent but also gained considerable talent. Six wins would be a realistic goal/outcome for a rebuilding year and tough schedule.
Fair take.
I will say that BYU is a team to not be underestimated in the Big 12 this season… They do i have tough schedule with OU, Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech and TCU… I have going 7-5 this season in the inaugral season in the Big 12..
BYU WILL GET SHIT ON 😂😂😂😂
they’ll win 5 games. If you think they’ll win at kansas and arkansas your delusional. 2-2 first 4 games
From a Utah fan don’t underestimate BYU. They are a tough program and will fair well in the big12.
Thanks for making this! Go Cougs
Arkansas, TCU, Texas Tech, & Texas are what I'd predict to be their losses. I'm optimistic though about BYU this year.
The 50:50 games for BYU in my opinion are Kansas Cincinnati, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.
