Alpha Male GETS REVENGE On Internet Troll – High Stakes Poker

Once again we have another massive pot in the recent episode of High Stakes Poker. This time it’s Doug Polk vs. Eric Persson, in a nut straight vs full house situation. How does this keep happening? Life is so unfair. After winning 3 World Series of Poker bracelets and millions of dollars in No Limit Texas Hold’em, it makes you wonder what’s even the point?

Rob Yong puts Doug Polk to the test on this massive hand from High Stakes Poker. This was the big game that featured Matt Berkey, Nik Airball, Jennifer Tilly, Lynne Ji, and Jean-Robert Bellande. Doug and Rob both have huge hands, and it looks like all of the money is destined to go in the middle.

Wow that sarcastic comment in the last 10 seconds of the clip from one of the spectators to Perssons was spot on….
"Hope you didn't injure your wrist turning that hand over so fast"

  2. Andy Siky

The thing is that this video help you but destroy you because your telling people how poker should be play in your mind set and they exploit that by not 3betting jacks pre flop it’s a doble edge knife making this videos 🤣

  3. Kells Mo

There are multiple people on that table that I would actively choose to stop playing cards cause of them. Tough ass dudes playing on TV and then playing tough. Get them in card rooms in other cities where there aren’t security and cameras and MFs will not be so tough. Doug you are the absolute man and they should be thanking you and others for the continued spotlight you bring to the game and the jealousy that real card players enjoy your content over pussy dudes with round issues and tiny dicks.

  4. justsomeguy

So umm who's the alpha male?

  5. Nick

“The river comes a 9 and once again I’ve gotten totally f***ed..” DEAD! 😅 I keep rewatching this part I can’t stop

  6. Fixundfertig1

F*ck it all, what a table, Polk and 5 fish , who needs selling courses or owning casinos? lol

  7. Thomas Young

Can’t wait to see what Persson’s hair looks like…c’mon monster fro.

It's weird that you exploitatively decided to make the call against Eric in a spot where this is a clear GTO fold blocking zero value bets. In your last video in which you made a somewhat light call you claimed you don't want to make exploitative adjustments too much since that's just not how you play. I think maybe you're just a calling station trying to justify why you always call lol

    This title is 🔥

Find it interesting how in the last video you talked about making an exploitative fold as people might say ‘Rob is never bluffing’ but dismissed that as you think about poker from a ‘balanced’ perspective.

But in this hand you say it should be a fold but you want to make an exploitative call because it’s Eric Pearsson and don’t dismiss that thought for the same reasons.

Not saying either way is good or bad, but surely it should be one way or the other, as if you make certain exploitative plays but not others, it typically suggests that you likely have a personal bias towards one option than another and that’s surely going to lead to making decisions with bad reasons to do so.

This should be a easy fold for you. I am surprised you even thought about calling. We also block hands like K9, 9T. The one 9x comb we beat that he raises is A9hh would make sense. But it just 1 hand. I guess 7T but also block that. That is the only value we beat. Everything else beats us and I don't think Eric is a sicko that bluff raises rivers with QJ. Maybe I am little to harsh cause we do have a straight, but I would wait for better spot. We are going to get Erics money in much better scenarios then this one.

  12. SnowToad

Doug, i already knew you would call the river before you did becsuse youre always a calling center.

  13. chala chin

dikball thinks he belongs and keeps blabbering away trying to act cool, gawd he is so cringeworthy

  14. Ken

I find it funny how Berkey is sandwiched in between two people who can't stand him lol

  15. Lance Bryant

Man, you are running like DNegs on highstakes poker. Didn't you roast him once on that? Man how times change.

  16. Superfly247

Is there a more annoying person than airball? Stfu dude.

Andy and Mariano played an average hand the other day. Just a flopped straight flush vs the Ace high flush. Very standard hand. Is that hand ever as fold in the river. It's crazy but I think it's a fold half the time. If the river doesn't bring another diamond then obviously it's an auto call but given the a action and the fourth diamond then it's never a bluff. Once Andy bets 120k on the river, even if Mariano has the King of Diamonds, say KK with the K of diamonds then he's literally never raising in that spot and possibly even hero folding. Now in Andy's shoes, if Mariano is never raising a king high flush then it's either a suicide bluff or KT/T8 of diamonds. I don't think Mariano picks Andy to decide to suicide bluff. It's prolly 90% the nuts and then 10% the suicide bluff. I know it sounds crazy but given the action I think it's at least a consideration to fold. Andy kinda double checked the board and hesitated for a few seconds. I think if he just thought about it for a minute he would have come to this exact though process. Sick spot either way but the river diamonds gives you a little bit of reasoning to fold. Like i said, if the river is a complete brick then it's never a fold. Thoughts?

Isn’t JT suppose to fold? You block so many bluffs.. (KT, QT,QJ,KJ).. I would prefer calling with Two pairs that includes an Ace (Ace 7 seems like the best calling hand)

  20. 2 Man Crew

Love your vids Doug……but this video should be titled how to talk yourself into making a bad call. Lol

  21. Rich Giordano

Easier said then done but when the guy does the Hollywood tilt the head like he does not like his hand. Then is betting 200k. Something is fishy.

  22. MrStx1969

    Good call…fucking cooler..

  23. DM Fuller Home

Doug…I love that your back and making great content. You have taught me a ton from videos like this. But yeah….it's definitely a fold. You gotta have some live instincts. He gave the mini Hollywood when you bet like he didn't like it. Then he raised you. I am a nerd and have watched Rob and knew he would never bluff this spot. You folded straight against hellmuth. Gotta play your opponent sometimes

MOST rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them

  25. daniel bcd

maybe thats how you exploit GTO, knowing that they'd never fold some hands

I usually read several comments before posting my own comment as I don't want to say what has already been said.

With that said, I agree completely with john Ledwith, but I'll go 1 step further after copying his post here:

"john Ledwith 17 minutes ago (edited)

You got played like a fiddle there Doug. That super quick check from Young on the river and the quick check raise was a dead giveaway he was strong."

    There are several tells here:

    1) Yong checked 3 times, on the flop, turn, & river. If he were to pile it in on the river it would be nuts (or close to it) or bluff.
    2) @9:46 Doug bets the river. Yong immediately shakes his head as if this is not good for him (This is a false tell)
    3) @9:51 Yong looks at his chip stack. (This is a sign of strength)
    4) @9:55 Yong reaches for chips and raises (Clear sign of strength as a bluff would most likely take more time to think)
    5) I agree with all of Doug's analysis after that, however the speed in which Yong played his hand on the river is the smoking gun that Doug should have recognized and got away from this hand.

Doug bet 50K on the river and Yong took less than 10 seconds to raise to 200K. There are 10 hands that beat him.

Think about playing a 2/5 game and you bet $500 on the river and get raised to $2,000 in less than 10 seconds.

    Bad call IMO.

  27. Omni-King Gaming

Doug, you 3 bet pre, you could raise bigger on the flop representing A10, not even AJ will likely to reraise you.

I don't blame your river call, Yong checked the nut twice, on the turn then river. But that could have been avoided if you raised 37k instead of 17k.

If you get reraise and put in a tough spot on the flop, you lose extra 20k, instead of 200k on the river. But yes, by folding to a reraise on the flop, it lose you your chance to improve your hand.

Ps: I would call 17k too if I were Yong. 60k pot + backdoor flush and gut shot to the nut.

  28. Martin Hadfield

OK. Meta game reasons make sense. Maybe you could have folded just this once though 🙂

  29. Ed Forbes

Doug, off topic, but i just listened to the video on charlie Carroll's channel about the pedophile debate. Just wanted to say, i 100% agree with you on this. Charlie and barkley, Berkley, whatever is name is, they are both so fucking wrong and so retarded on this its incredible. I know i saw it on charlies channel, but even so, i was amazed by how many comments were supporting charlies position. You had it right mate. Fucking zero tolerance and zero empathy for fucking child molesters! Its amazing to think that and be in the minority! You handled it very well mate. Fucking mental. Best wishes from England bro.

Are you saying if this wasn’t televised and with a random businessman and players you’d never play with again, you’d Bet Fold the river?

  31. john Ledwith

You got played like a fiddle there Doug. That super quick check from Young on the river and the quick check raise was a dead giveaway he was strong.

  32. N K

Doug, please be man enough to say that Yong’s cold call of a 3b with KQs OOP is terrible.

  33. Brad

Why wouldn't you want an exploitable image? If they think you are exploitable but you don't play that way, isn't your GTO style more effective?

  34. JMRSplatt

Got enough pokerGo stickers there, Doug?

  35. Kindram

You learned from your last snap call. Haha good 4 u

  36. Matthew Bryan

Let’s keep replaying this god awful game.. as if we didn’t have to listen to his annoying laugh enough already.. and how did ya miss the easy tell? I’ll let it pass.. listening to airballs annoying laugh and bad jokes can be distracting.. but my god fold on the raise.. question you should ask yourself is what are you beating that he’d raise with? And there’s not a lot. All sets beat ya.. there’s a better two pair. And of course what he has. The straight. I mean could be two spades that missed but still has a pair. But very unlikely. Just a bad call

  37. stavros green

Iv never seen such a fake attitude cringe lineup in my life. Is there one real person on this table ? Apart from Yong
