Academics is most important? Is that why everyone wants to leave the Pac12?

Is this why the big 10 sucks at football?

The AAU is not a closed group. Florida State University is on the cusp of AAU status, is currently a top-20 public university ranked at 18th, and raised $1.1 billion for academics only. FSU has made AAU status a reality since hiring a former Provost of Harvard. Many people do not realize just how much FSU has been climbing & striving to climb in education, and obtain AAU status. While Florida State has already raised $1.125 billion for athletics as well, during the same time period.

I think the only thing I disagree with is the its the channel comment. No I think specific channels get the bigger teams. People want to watch that.

AMAZING SHOW!!!! Tony was so extremely informative! This show was not publicized enough; I just stumbled on this video today on YouTube; if the college football fans across all the different YouTube college football channels knew about this video, I think it would have easily hit 50K to 100k views.
I would love to see you add him to the show cycle (monthly, quarterly, or Bi-Annually), discussing the business side of Universities, College Football, and Media giving us the whole picture. I would love to hear his business insight about the College Football Playoff and the many potential expansion options and potential revenue streams for Universities and conferences. How does the BigTen and SEC and related universities figure to gain more from an expanded playoff? Another great topic would be NIL.

Tony thank you for your research. US World& News every year issues their top universities/ colleges both at the national and regional level based upon multiple criterion. It is a trusted resource having been rating schools for at least the last 20 years. Based upon US World&News, the only national University rated in the top 20 from the Big Ten is Northwestern at 7. Pac. 12 has two schools in the top 20 Stanford and Cal. Notre Dame is the top rated religious national University in the country having been rated from 13- 18 over the last several years. The latest ranking for the Irish is 18.

Can you get Tony on where you do the same look at the B1G and what it would look like if they added schools from the ACC, PAC 12, and ND.

I’d love to know what Tony thinks is the perfect number of schools that the B1G and even the SEC to expand to? Is it staying at 16 or expanding to 20, 24, 28, 32, or even 36 schools?

As a B1G fan this is what I’d want to see if they go to 24. Washington or Oregon would get the hook if they convinced ND to join or one of the two florida schools to join in FSU or Miami.

    West
USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Washington, Oregon

    East
GT, UNC, Duke, Virginia, Maryland, Rutgers

    Midwest
PSU. tOSU, UofM, MSU, Purdue, Indiana

    North
NW, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minny, Iowa, and Nebraska.

If they expand to more than 24 I’d love to see them look at ND, FSU, Miami, Clemson, Va Tech, and/or Colorado.

And to a lesser extent BC, Syracuse, Pitt, NC St, Wake Forest, Louisville, Kansas, Ok St, and/or Houston.

I’d also see what it would take to see if the B1G could snag Vandy or Florida from the SEC who fit the academic profile. I have to think Florida wouldn’t he too stoked to add both FSU and Miami to the SEC. Same with how South Carolina would feel adding Clemson.

Also how viable is Army, Navy, and Air Force to joining the B1G, SEC, or whatever you want to call the Big 12?

    Awesome show w/Tony.

This should be required viewing for anybody about to make another uninformed, panicky social media comment about which schools belong where, or who brings more value to a conference.

Thing that made me love this, shows Nebraska is 1000% dog shit

Mark for true college football fans this was the most informative and enjoyable show that you have ever done. Tony is incredible with his wealth of knowledge about the history of academics and sports. I cannot believe that I just watched a Youtube show for an hour and 40 min…but I did and enjoyed every min of it.

Don't know where your guest got his statistics, but I only looked at one team to check his accuracy. ND, for example. 23 nattys b/t their fencing & football team alone. Tony only shows 20 total? Endowment is > $21B. Tony only has $12B. The fewer the # of students, the worse the school? Tony gives RED squares to schools like Stanford, Northwestern & ND for enrollment. They hv the best students in the land! HUGE schools = lower academic standards. I question his entire chart's accuracy.

Great show. Where can we access this presentation?

Damn thanks for reminding me how much I cant stand the west coast and pac 12 and all their fucking politics. I hate the big ten even more now, lol.

Thank god you brought Tony on! An actual non-football brain to analyze this realignment.

If the B1G and SEC each reach 24 premier schools, they will likely break with the NCAA and establish their own governing body and national championship. The PAC, ACC and Big XII will be reduced to 2nd tier schools and that TV money will be diverted to the two big players. What happens to ND if they persist with their desire to be independent? The B1G and SEC won't be willing to make a special exception, nor will they share revenue. ND needs to read the writing on the wall… it's time to join the B1G.
