The hypocrisy is monumental since the greed of ESPN/Disney and sleazy corporate maneuvering was behind all of this. Good job killing traditional college football. You get what you deserve. You are to blind to realize that millions of people will have better things to do on Saturdays than watch this clown show you produced.
Forget the big 2. Sec added 1 good program. Big 10 added none. So numerically, it is money not power. I do notcreally see adding acc programs to either ultimately matters. We have seen that money alone does not improve a program. Look at both the SEC and big10 and all the still very weak programs within. So even if they go to 20 plus each, it just means they have more weakness around them to beat.
I think the B1G and SEC ultimately get to 24 teams because you're still leaving quality matchups out if only 40 teams are in contention every year. And that's before you even begin to consider basketball in your calculus.
I think the B1G ends up with the following:
B1G
Mid-Atlantic: Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia
Great Lakes: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Purdue
Midwest: Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin
Pacific: Cal, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington
Unless I missed a trick, outside of Nebraska (already in the conference) and Notre Dame (whose academic reputation makes their lack of AAU membership more of a wash) all of those schools are AAU as well.
SEC
Atlantic: Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Virginia Tech
Central: Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
Gulf Coast: Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State
West: Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M
I think the only teams left out in the cold with even a little name recognition and chance to catch eyeballs are Pitt, WVU, Utah and Cincinnati. MAYBE NC State.
If you then go and institute some sort of European-style relegation which gives lower tier teams something to shoot for, particularly if some new, over-arching governing body subsidizes those lower tiers with their own regional conferences and championships, you maintain at least some of the charm and tradition that you lose with conference homogenization.
Norte dame is scared to join a powerful conference
You don't get it Paul, Notre Dame is like the hot blonde in high school that was advanced : the chick wearing the black bra. Been around the block like every weekend. She has her way with everybody. Be careful. She's lethal and manipulative. Play's half baked non aggressive schedule mind games, has a side fling going with the Naval cadets, Go figure smart dudes hardly elite players. She's on again off again with Michigan St and Michigan, she used to do a double with them now she's not answering the phone. Her buddy Lance, the blond pony tail surfer out in LA, at the University rich trust fund USC friend she's stringing him out threatening to leave him for some poindexters up the coast at Stanford. See she calls her shots as she so chooses she ain't getting in bed with anyone unless they got money and will do what she says. She likes to hang out with frat house losers in football like Wake and Duke and Virginia. Such a diva.
SEC and BIG 10 should form the Championship League and seperate from NCAA. Create a 12 team playoffs with 4 at large invitations from NCAA
Whoever absorbs the ACC is getting the better deal there's 5 r 6 big time programs in the ACC problem is there all down right now except Clemson and let's not forget all the big time basketball schools they got as well
What the SEC and the Big 10 are doing is actually against the law and should be challenged in court.
I site the following acts against monopolies.
Sherman Act 1891
Clayton Act 1914
Federal Trade Commission Act 1914
These acts serve three major functions. First, Section 1 of the Sherman Act prohibits price fixing and the operation of cartels, and prohibits other collusive practices that unreasonably restrain trade. Second, Section 7 of the Clayton Act restricts the mergers and acquisitions of organizations that may substantially lessen competition or tend to create a monopoly. Third, Section 2 of the Sherman Act prohibits monopolization

That's nice, how much are the athletes getting?
Oregon State and Washington State might as well get ready to join the Mountain West lol.
The SEC and the Big 10 will be like the AFC and NFC before too long
College football isn’t what it use to be
This is on the NCAA to stop this. It’s ruining college sports.
The only conference I see Notre Dame putting its football in is the B1G. I can't envision the SEC landing Notre Dame.
I hate it call me old school but hate it
Big 10 should rename itself as the "Big" conference.
I will no longer follow college sports. It's gone to me.
Colleges left and right are going to start dropping football. College football is over and greed is going to kill it.
Notre Dame is not an independent they're in the ACC. They've been able to rebuild their reputation playing that schedule.
Notre Dame is an 9-3 team in the big 10 and 11-1 in the ACC
