What definition is more important
The percentage of the ATS or the actual ATS number,for example the + or – ?
My calculated line is Fav team A -1, but the line at the book is Team A -2.5, so I'm thinking that betting on Team B +2.5 is the way to go since I'd have the fav not beating the spread. Does that make sense, or am I all wet on this thinking? Open to comments from anyone reading this?
Also, I read somewhere that "if you have a calculated point spread greater than a 5-point overlay on one of the teams, then that's a bet to consider." Would that mean that if the Line is Team A -3.5, but I have calculated Team A at -2, then the bet would be on the underdog, Team B +3.5? The reasoning is that there's a 5.5 point overlay between the underdog and the line.
I've looked everywhere for a clear definition or explanation of what this could mean. Thanks to anyone that could clear that up.
