I'm an Eagles fan but I'm also a football realist. To me in evaluating both teams and how they match up, the Eagles need to base their game plan on what would logically be coach Shanahan's strategy/tactics for victory. That overall strategy and the biggest stat for the 49ers to win will be time of possession and a time of possession victory will be almost entirely based on a consistently effective running game. I do not think the 49ers will allow the best pass rush in football to be a factor in this game. Whatever passing the 49ers do will involve quick releases and high percentage. The 49ers also obviously should not allow Philadelphia's other defensive strength their secondary to feed off their young quarterback "opening it up". By limiting the responsibility of his quarterback and giving him a simple game plan, gives Shanahan/49ers the best chance of a victory. That said I call this an IF GAME. I'm not saying who will win I will only say that the team does win will be the team that best executes their game plan. The Eagles Must Must Must on defense have a good/effective day on McCaffrey. They don't need to entirely shut them down but the 49ers cant have consistent long sustained drives on the ground.
ON offense the opposite strategy should be at play for the Eagles against the 49ers. STRETCH THE FIELD. The teams which had success against the 49ers this year did exactly that. As the Eagles weakness in their defense is the run, the 49ers is their secondary and the Eagles should be aggressive in attacking that. Although the Eagles have had a great running game all year, I do not think it is the road to victory against this particular opponent. The greatness of the Eagles O-line on Sunday needs to shine on pass protection and causing the 49ers to defend the entire field. The other thing that stretching out the 49ers defense does is open up Jalen Hurts for some effective running plays. When the Eagles do elect to run it should be as a result of the pass setting up the run, possibly more in the second half if they have built a lead and can cause San Francisco to throw the ball more and on deeper routes. This will then activate Philadelphia's defensive strengths being the pass rush and an excellent opportunistic secondary.
All of that said, the only prediction that I will make is that if this game plays out in a similar fashion as the 49er game against Dallas, I think the Eagles win. Purdey will not get away with the plays on defense that the Cowboys failed to make including "at least" 2 interception chokes and that Kittles juggling catch that he should have been hammered on had he been in the Philadelphia secondary. Dallas could easily have won that game had they taken advantage of those opportunities despite the lousy quarterback play of Presscott.

Shanahan will play the niners strengths, defense and run game, taking pressure off purdy. So yeah purdy really doesn't have to do anything. No pressure, grind out game to the win. Only birds flying will be boo birds and in classic Philly fashion, the fans will turn on their team. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 can't wait.
