If I were picking I'd probably say Paris Johnson, Emmanuel Forbes, Jonathan Mingo, and Andre Carter

  2. George Butler

If Carter is there that's what I would take 1st.

  3. Skip johnson

Do not take Carter , there are too many questions about his work ethic and maturity , he showed up at his pro day over weight and unable to complete his workout !! Poles had better hope Carter is gone when their pick comes up !!

  4. Julian Mckeithan

Why is Kohesy from ND is now going down draft, did he have a bad combine?

  5. Joe Wollick

Our priority should be protecting and giving weapons to Justin Fields. We got him a new ride receiver. There's also a running back that should be in shape and injury-free from last year's draft class. Working on the offensive line and making it stronger to protect our quarterback and allow him more time to make decisions. I think most of our draft picks should be going toward his protection and maybe a luxury pick for another weapon. We do need to make sure that our defense is at least better than it was last year. We lost a lot of games where we are only one score difference. If our offense is better and our defense is just a little better that changes everything. With a better offense, it does take pressure off of the defense. The offense will also be on the field longer giving our defense more time to rest. If things work out right next year we will make big improvements on the defense and some small improvements on the offense.

The reason I want to concentrate on the offense is to keep our quarterback safe. If he has more weapons he doesn't have to think about where he's going to run with the ball. If he has a better line he'll have more time to look at every possible outlet to get rid of the ball. He will have time to make better decisions.

For OTs on most any big boards I have been looking at, PJJ, Skoronski, Broderick, Wright, Harrison, and Dawand are ALL GONE before #40 and then the remaining OT's are ranked like 67 or worse. That's a big drop off by the time #53 rolls around. Not interested at that point.

So that also means 61 and 64 are the remaining scraps of the 2nd Round. Getting another pick in the 30s or better IS CRUCIAL!!!!

  7. Joc Jones

    Great podcast !!!!…

  8. JoeOpenden

Great work, man. Very thought-out content. Not just recycling the same crap as everyone else!

  9. Anthony P

If it falls like that, Im taking van ness 1st, Dywan Jones 2nd, Bergeron 3rd and Pickens 4th

  10. R. WIL Wil

A center!!!! We need a top center!

  11. Robert Petty

    Foster is da truth

  12. SBC Burgos

Van Ness is a late 1st rounder, a reach at #9th, and Foskey should be gone long before the #61st pick

  13. Kayn Caruth

I made a draft with jsn, bresee, and darnell wright.

  14. White Ghost

The Bears Better trade the 9th Pick and get Darnell Wright for starters

  15. Chris Johnson

    Bears should good
    9th pick paris Johnson
    53rd pick ojulari
    61st pick zach charbonnet
    64th pick D.Hall

  16. Doug Van Dorn

Two quick points. First, several of your options at given pick levels are not likely to actually be there at those picks, and in most cases you can't just say "Well, him or this really close to him guy." There are fall-offs where there isn't anyone close to the guy you'd want at a pick who's already off the board. Second, you're right, this doesn't give you quite the talent you really want at all of those skill positions of need. That's why I'd trade down from #9 to somewhere at or better than #20, and add a low 30s pick with that trade-down. Or, worse, I'd revert to being Ryan Pace and use one or two '24 and/or '25 draft picks to buy a pick in the low 30s. It all depends on how improved you think you can be without adding that extra early round two pick? Are you OK with having another mediocre year and waiting until '24 to roll the dice on that draft class, or do you want to spend some of that future draft capital to get in on more well-scouted talent available right now, who can make you competitive in '23? That is a real choice, and like I say, I know how Pace would go. I'll be interested in seeing how Poles goes.

  17. Tom Clair

    Carter, Ojalari, Bergeron, Brents

Though, I do like Bijon in the "other" category. I don't put it past Poles to hit on some later picks or get starters via trade during the draft.

  18. David Larsen

Trade down to 13-18 and get another 2nd. This gives more flexibility.

  19. Ed Yates

This is a great exercise. Please redo with the 17th and 49th picks rather than the 9th.

  20. JOHN REAPE

The "best player available", applies to teams like the Chiefs and Bills. It is just plain stupid for a team with gigantic needs like the Bears have. You draft according to your needs, and position of greatest importance. That is the defensive and offensive lines in this case.
