Great draft process
SFH: What are we going to do if we don’t get a reciever out of the draft?
Holmes: We’re still gonna look at it, there’s plenty of depth there’s the USC kid we can get later. 🤣🤣🤣

3 years later and both Penei and Amon Ra have new deals. How can you doubt what they are doing in the draft when they have the record they have?
Watching this after the 2024 Draft, a few thing stand out to me.
1. MCDC & Holmes are so much more transparent about what they want and about the whole draft process (but are also smart enough to hide their cards where it can be hard to predict who they will select).
2. They are actually excited about who they are getting. YOU SHOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE BUILDING!! So many other teams try to be “professional,” but these guys are doing their own thing.
3. They will gladly explain something to Sheila while still being in control of the situation (the moment when Sheila asks about them not taking a WR earlier in the draft when they needed to get Alim when they got him; that moment comes to mind). 18:50 if you want the timestamp.
So glad we have built something SO MUCH BETTER!!
Best draft class in the history of this organization
It's May 10th, 2024. I'm from the future to tell y'all that two of these guys are among the best in the league in their positions and two others are developing well.
Watching this again a few days after seeing our first and fourth-rounder from this draft gettin PAID. The foundation was built on this day.

And to think that while Matt Stafford would take the LA Rams to the Super Bowl title at the end of the 2021 season, while Detroit would go 3-13-1, the foundation was being laid with this draft, the 1st one that GM Brad Holmes started with.
I can't wait to see what goodies he has for us Lions fans when the 2024 NFL Draft is being held in Detroit from April 25-27!
Pretty wild to watch back now. Brad takes Amon Ra and Barnes back to back in 2021, then in the divisional playoffs in 2024 Amon Ra has the TD to put the Lions up 2 scores, and Barnes has the game sealing INT.
